A fine fizz

Ellercombe — Made with grapes from prime vineyards across Southern England, this home-grown challenger brand sought help to carve out a position and offer a distinctive alternative to the established Champagne and Prosecco giants of the sparkling wine category.

Responding to the growing demand and credibility of English sparkling wines, the Foster + Baylis team created an identity and packaging design anchored in English heritage. The understated solution features an embossed teal label paired with gold foil blocking and spot gloss varnish patterning to convey the brand’s inherent fine quality and pedigree. A die cut shield features a stylised gold Alder tree in reflection of the Ellercombe name that translates to “Alder tree valley” in traditional Sussex dialect as a further nod to the brand’s artisanal devotion, craftsmanship and heritage.

Disciplines: Brand strategy. Brand identity. Packaging design. Design implementation. Production.

Launching to glowing reviews in both the trade and national press, the new brand sits comfortably and credibly alongside the most premium offerings within the Champagne category whilst offering a differentiated and distinctive choice.
